The Communications Office at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a Content Specialist position.
The initial contract is for a definite period of one year, with a possibility for renewal. The post will initially be based in Budapest with some business travel to Vienna.

The award-winning Communications Office at CEU is responsible for promoting and communicating the university’s mission, activities and achievements to the broader public. It manages the CEU brand, institutional website and social media sites, creates video products and print publications, coordinates professional photography, and liaises with journalists worldwide. It also consults with faculty and staff members on communications strategy and project development.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop ties with units across the University to gather news
  • Create persuasive communications content for multiple marketing and communication platforms including print, web, and social media
  • Assist in developing a content strategy and timeline for each academic year
  • Build and schedule content pages in the CMS (Drupal)
  • Working with moving image colleagues, build and schedule rich media content
  • Curate the front page of
  • Curate CEU’s busy events listings
  • Contribute to and maintain ‘tone of voice’
  • Work with administrative and academic units to streamline communications with key audiences such as prospective students, partner universities, donors and friends of the University
  • Create content for all channels including website, social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube), newsletters, podcasts, intranet site, print publications


  • University degree
  • Excellent, native-level English essential, fluent German and/or Hungarian desirable
  • 3+ years’ experience in content production, especially web, social media, and video content
  • Excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, especially related to project management
  • Experience with video content an advantage (technical skills not required)
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize projects to stay on top of workflow and strict deadlines
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and in teams
  • Media relations experience an advantage
  • Proficiency in some or all of the following

                 o Microsoft products, especially O365 tools
                 o Adobe Creative Cloud (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere)
                 o MailChimp or other marketing/database management systems
                 o Web editing using Drupal CMS or similar

  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment
