The Department of Philosophy at Central European University (CEU) in Vienna invites applications for a part-time Department Coordinator position. The first contract is for three years with the possibility of renewal.

The CEU Department of Philosophy offers BA, MA and PhD-level education up to the standards of the best international institutions, and its programs are accredited in the United States as well as in Europe. The department uniquely combines analytic and historical approaches to philosophy, a feature which allows for a fruitful dialogue between contemporary philosophy and its history. https://philosophy.ceu.edu/

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Organizing academic and social events on an occasional basis
  • Managing the department’s websites and social media platforms
  • Providing administrative support for the seasonal activities of recruitment and admission, and liaising with the respective university offices at CEU
  • Administering faculty and student projects
  • Administering faculty and student conference grants
  • Maintaining and updating databases
  • Compiling report and evaluations
  • Participation in the department’s daily operations

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English
  • Preference is given to candidates who have a good working knowledge (C1) of German
  • A strong interest in and ability to work with students in an international environment
  • High-level computer literacy and advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite and proficiency in databases
  • Experience with managing social media platforms and web-editing
  • Excellent organizational and reporting skills
  • Structured and flexible way of thinking
  • Ability to work alone and in a team
  • A precise, pro-active, and efficient attitude and work ethics
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and to take initiative
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand and learn new tasks quickly
  • Preference is given to candidates who have experience with online learning systems (e.g., Moodle, MS Teams, Zoom) and/or have previous administrative experience in higher education

Compensation
We offer a gross annual salary of 32,000 EUR as well as a dynamic and international academic environment.
