The Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations at Central European University invites applications for one full-time Coordinator position at its Vienna campus.

Program Background:

The Doctoral School offers and administers the training of the doctoral students of the three departments of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations in 2009. The Doctoral School is home to more than 50 permanent faculty members and over 100 doctoral students.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Help with administering records, grade entry, data maintenance, student status monitoring, and onboarding of students.
  • Help with organizing the curriculum and teaching schedule.
  • Advise students on admissions and program rules, working with faculty to ensure that students adhere to university and program policy.
  • Support internal/external reporting.
  • Prepare policy documents, meeting minutes.
  • Provide support to School Director, contact with central university administration.
  • Provide high level administrative support to faculty, students, and guests.
  • Plan or support the Doctoral School’s activities: academic and social events, meetings, conference and workshops.
  • Provide office management, maintenance of office supply inventory, general email and mail handling.
  • Help organize the School’s online presence.
  • Coordinate students’ contractual matters with HR.
  • Coordinate financial matters between the Doctoral School, students and central units (grant applications, acquisition of facility equipment, other purchasing processes).
  • Communicate and coordinate with students.


Required skills and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
  • At least 2 years of working experience in a position with similar tasks in a higher education or international environment.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Ability to balance sensitivity towards student needs with ensuring student adherence to university and program regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and to take ownership of issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize.
  • Proficiency in using Office 365 and MS products, databases and web-search platforms.
  • Ability to work under pressure.



We offer a competitive salary starting from 40,500 EUR/year. A higher salary is possible if warranted by the candidate’s working experience. The initial contract is for one year, with a possibility of renewal.
