The Department of Public Policy (DPP) at Central European University (CEU) is, in the words of its founder, George Soros, a “new kind of global institution dealing with global problems” through multi-disciplinary study of public policy, innovative teaching and research, as well as meaningful engagement with policy practice.

The Department of Public Policy at Central European University invites applications for a full-time Coordinator position at its Vienna campus.

The Departmental Coordinator will be responsible for the smooth running of the master programs of the Department of Public Policy and will support and guide DPP students during their study cycle regarding academic and non-academic issues. The position may involve some DPP office management duties.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Design, prepare and coordinate student arrival, on-boarding and DPP orientation activities
  • Provide guidelines and inform students of the academic terms, course registrations and regulations throughout the academic year
  • Assist in the processing of stipend reports and student grants and provide reporting for external scholarships
  • Coordinate and contribute to the drafting of handbooks updating the DPP website when necessary
  • Coordinate the MA thesis supervision allocation by liaising with students and DPP faculty members ensuring the most suitable supervisor allocations
  • Manage student off-boarding process, help organize and coordinate graduation events
  • Organize and participate in departmental webinars and study fairs to promote DPP programs
  • Coordinate the admissions process for the master programs allotted in line with the central Admissions team deadlines
  • Interprets, reviews, and updates departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with CEU regulations.
  • The duties may involve some DPP office management duties including maintaining the departmental calendars, preparing meeting agendas, scheduling departmental meetings, writing and distributing minutes, supporting departmental events, and ordering and maintaining sufficient inventory of office supplies and equipment.
  • Support internal and external reporting.

Required skills and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
  • At least 2-3 years of working experience in a position with similar tasks ideally in higher education or at an international company.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Ability to balance sensitivity towards student needs with ensuring student adherence to university and program regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and to take ownership and solve issues.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize.
  • Proficiency in using Office 365 and MS products, databases and web-search platforms.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

We offer a competitive salary starting from 40,500 EUR/year. A higher salary is possible if warranted by the candidate’s working experience. The initial contract is for one year, with a possibility of renewal.
