The Financial Aid Office at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an External Scholarship Coordinator position. The Financial Aid Office is administering both internal and external financial aid for undergraduate and graduate students from over a hundred countries. We are looking for a new colleague who will be in charge of coordinating the administration of available scholarship opportunities from all over the world. The person will be responsible for advising incoming and continuing students on the eligibility and suitability of their scholarship. Having previous experience in higher education administration and knowledge of foreign languages can be an advantage.  

 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for coordinating external scholarships for CEU’s degree students (at all levels) from governments, international organizations, corporations, etc.
  • Responsible for coordinating the effective administration of external scholarships in close collaboration with CEU's Academic Cooperation and Development offices.
  • Identifies, systemizes, and shares external scholarship sources that are suitable for CEU’s incoming or continuing students. Develops and manages relationships that yield increasing levels of student support. Ensures that CEU’s incoming and continuing students have easy access to information on all external scholarship resources and advises them on their eligibility for the scholarships. 
  • Coordinates communication with potential student beneficiaries, external scholarship sources and other relevant CEU units; advises on determining student eligibility, and counsels students and parents on scholarship opportunities and the processes and procedures of how to access them. Where required and possible, prepares institutional applications for external scholarships.
  • Contributes to marketing and recruitment materials to promote awareness of external scholarship opportunities for potential applicants and students.
  • Coordinates monitoring of recipients’ academic progress to ensure students adhere to scholarship and donor requirements, as well as CEU policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Collaborates with IT, Budget and Finance Office, and Student Records to effectively manage external scholarship-related records, from application to disbursement and reporting. Develops a record tracking system for external scholarships and external scholarship recipients.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Academic degree, preferably a master’s degree.
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Good knowledge of the global scholarship landscape.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

 

Advantages:

  • Professional experience with financial aid, scholarship administration or fundraising.
  • Knowledge of German and/or other languages is an advantage.

 

 

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial contract is for one year with 3 months trial period with the expectation of renewal for an indefinite time period, based on identifiable success.
