The Department of Political Science at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a Full (40 hours/week) or Part-Time (30 hours/week) Department Coordinator position. This position is a maternity leave replacement with a fixed-term contract until June 2024 with the possibility of extension.



The Department of Political Science at CEU is a close-knit community and consists of 15 permanent faculty members and over 80 students. The department is committed to academic freedom, equal access to education and collegial self-governance. Our department strives to develop and nurture a scholarly community of faculty and students who engage in a common process of education and research, with special emphasis on contemporary challenges facing society.  

We offer a BA program, two MA programs and a PhD program in political science. Your duties and responsibilities:

  • Administration of the teaching programs, course enrollment, teaching schedule, theses, calendars and room assignments. 
  • Developing and implementing marketing and recruitment strategies, including digital marketing campaigns and analysis. 
  • Conducting recruitment presentations (both offline and webinars) and contributing to recruitment and conversion activities (e.g. Open House, individual inquiries). 
  • Identifying marketing trends and opportunities for growth. 
  • Composing and posting social media content with appealing visuals. 
  • Drafting newsletters and overseeing the newsletter database. 
  • Updating and managing the departmental websites. 
  • Organizing events, logistics, catering and promotion of departmental events, seminars. 
  • Completing administration related to travel arrangements of speakers, guests. 
  • Maintaining and updating databases. 
  • Compiling reports and evaluations. 
  • Handling day-to-day operation and technical problems. 

Your skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum). 
  • At least 3 years of working experience in a position with similar tasks, ideally in higher education or at an international company. 
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English. 
  • A strong interest in and ability to work with students and student recruitment in an international environment. 
  • High level computer literacy and advanced knowledge of the MS Office suite and mastery of databases. 
  • Experience with online learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, MS Teams). 
  • Experience with social media platforms, newsletter software and web-editing. 
  • Excellent organizational and reporting skills. 
  • Structured and flexible way of thinking. 
  • Ability to work alone and in a team. 
  • A precise, proactive and efficient attitude and work ethics. 
  • Great attention to detail. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and take initiative. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines. 
  • Problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to understand and learn new tasks quickly. 
  • Experience in marketing/branding and German language knowledge are considered as advantage. 


What we offer

We offer a competitive salary starting from gross 42,000 EUR/year. A higher salary is possible if warranted by the candidate’s working experience. This is a full-time maternity leave replacement with a fixed-term contract until June 2024 with the possibility of extension.
