The IT Department at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a full-time IT Support Specialist positions.  The IT Support Specialist will work primarily on CEU’s campus in Vienna. The contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality personal, telephone and email support to users experiencing IT issues (problems with hardware, software) in English and Hungarian (German knowledge is advantage)
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of local IT processes and administrative procedures
  • Administer the life cycle of IT assets
  • Report to the Head of Campus Technology and Support
  • Act as an intermediary / primary contact person between users and IT support



  • High school or college degree – IT or AV specialization is an advantage
  • Good communication skills in Hungarian and English (at least intermediate level) – German knowledge is an advantage
  • Excellent IT skills (Windows, Office, basic network and hardware skills)
  • 3+ years' experience with IT support, with AV systems (AV over IP, Dante network) and with educational technology (Panopto, Moodle, Interactive smart screens)
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently when required
  • Microsoft Office365-related knowledge is an advantage
  • Client-oriented mentality
