Junior Visiting Researcher in building energy modeling

The Department of Environmental Science and Policy at Central European University (CEU) is looking to recruit an experienced professional to work on a Horizon2020 research project “Sentinel.” The successful candidate will work on improving the 3CSEP HEB global building energy model of the department, under the supervision of Prof. Diana Urge-Vorsatz.

Responsibilities

  • Operationalize a global building energy model presently on a VBA macro platform, and develop it further to integrate it with other models
  • Ability to navigate the existing model
  • Understand and able to improve the model code in VBA macro, or move it to another platform
  • Prepare an interface and documentation appropriate for further scientific work with the model
  • Improve the model to allow more flexible inputs
  • Develop the model to calculate further research tasks

Qualifications and skills

  • Experience in programming, as well as either modeling, energy modeling, or VBA macro coding. Also, the contractor/employee is expected to produce deliverables within a short period of time.
  • Training or experience related to energy demand or building energy are a plus.
  • Excellent English writing and conversational skills are a must.

Commitment level

This is an independent work, the schedule and the number of working hours are flexible based on agreement with the supervisor and the requirements of the project.

Compensation

We offer a competitive remuneration that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The contract can be an employment, assignment or service contract. In an employment contract the initial contract is for 3 months with the possibility of renewal until May 2022.
