Junior Visiting Researcher in Building (Onsite) Energy Supply Modeling Environmental Sciences and Policy

The Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an experienced professional to work on the Horizon2020 research project “Sentinel”. The successful candidate will work on analyzing the global building energy models of the department, under the supervision of Prof. Diana Urge-Vorsatz. The initial contract is for 3 months with the possibility of renewal until November 2022. We particularly encourage candidates who have some work experience with energy modeling, GIS and Python packages (e.g., Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Matplotlib) to apply for this position; building energy demand modeling experience is a strong plus.

Duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate is expected to help in analyzing data from CEU’s global building energy models (Python interpreted models) and develop it further to integrate it with other models.

Primary duties include:

  • Ability to navigate the existing model
  • Write academic papers and reports
  • Upgrade the models with further features

Qualifications:
Candidates must be able to produce high-quality academic papers on energy modeling. Training or experience related to building energy demand/supply and GIS skills (e.g., data management of raster and vector layers) are a plus. Also, the candidate is expected to produce deliverables within a short period of time. Lastly, having some experience in working with Python is a must.

Compensation
We offer a competitive remuneration that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The contract can be an employment, assignment or service contract. In an employment contract, the initial contract is for 3 months with the possibility of renewal until November 2022.
