Central European University (CEU) Department of Network and Data Science invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in the area of Mathematics.
The Department of Network and Data Science at the Central European University carries out research in network science, with special focus on the foundations and data driven, socially relevant applications. The Department organizes a BA/BSc in Data Science and Society as well as hosts a one- and a two-year MS Programs in Social Data Science and a PhD Program and various Advanced Certificate Programs for CEU doctoral students.
CEU is an English language university with three undergraduate programs: Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), Culture, Politics, and Society (CPS), and Data Science and Society (DSS). Students of the undergraduate programs come from all over the world and the teaching faculty is also very international. To improve the training of students in the fundamentals of mathematics, CEU is looking to hire a full-time lecturer.
Qualifications:
We expect applications from mathematicians or mathematics teachers, with a PhD and a strong record in teaching introductory university mathematics. The applicant should consider teaching as her/his main profession. Experience in teaching non-mathematics undergraduate students is a plus, and so is studies in the didactics of math teaching.
Job description:
The lecturer will teach mostly undergraduate students and some graduate courses in the fields of linear algebra, calculus, probability, optimization and differential equations, which includes lecturing and tutoring.
The candidate will be expected to participate in administrative service.
