The General Counsel of CEU invites applications for a Legal Assistant position.

The successful candidate will provide support to the General Counsel and the legal team, doing legal research and preparing legal contracts, memos and submissions. They will further manage the General Counsel’s schedule and related communications. The position requires solid understanding of Austrian legal and administrative procedures, strong written and verbal communication, administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail and handle a wide variety of activities independently. A legal background is of advantage.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Legal research and preparation of legal documents and submissions
  • Preparing and managing correspondence that is sometimes confidential
  • Managing a very active calendar of appointments
  • Arranging travel plans, itineraries and agendas
  • Organizing and taking minutes at meetings upon request
  • Collecting and processing data; maintaining databases; storing and tracking documents
  • Administrative management of the Legal Office by handling and sorting incoming mail, shared email accounts and incoming telephone calls as the first point of contact

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, in any subject, preferably Austrian law
  • Out-of-the box thinker with solid research skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, including professional staff and external partners
  • Friendly, communicative, diplomatic, welcoming, organized, hands-on
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, not afraid to improvise
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds; gender and cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word Excel, and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat

Compensation
We offer a gross annual salary of 38,000 EUR for full-time (pro-rated in case of part-time), as well as a dynamic and international academic environment.
