MA Coordinator

The Department of History at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an MA Coordinator position. The initial contract is for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Duties and responsibilities:
The successful candidate's main responsibilities will include:

  • Administrative support to the international student and teacher body of the department,
  • Responsibility for academic tasks, schedules, course lists, arranging technical issues for classes,
  • Maintain the website and e-learning site of the department,
  • Overseeing course registrations, assisting students with the evaluation process,
  • Organizing public events (workshops, lectures, conferences),
  • Assisting with (visiting) faculty-related and other general administrative tasks, booking accommodation, travel,
  • General administrative support to the Head of Department of History.

Further tasks may be assigned by the Head of Department.


  • Excellent knowledge of English (both written and spoken)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Experience of working in complex organizations, eg international NGOs, or higher education institutions
  • Ability to work with both students and faculty
  • A thorough knowledge of MS Office
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • A high level of confidentiality
  • Multicultural orientation and open-mindedness
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work under pressure
