The CEU Vienna Campus at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a Student Life Officer position. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal; the probation period is one month.
The successful candidate will run the Student Centre, coordinating and delivering non-academic administrative support to the students in Vienna.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervise the arrival and leaving procedures at the Vienna campus, assist in the organization of the opening and graduation ceremonies
  • Supervise the work of the Student Well-Being Assistant in cooperation with the Student Health and Well-Being Officer
  • Supervise the work of the Student Events Assistant in cooperation with the Acting Director of Community Engagement
  • Ensure the smooth landing and transition of commuting Dean of Students Office (DoS) colleagues from Budapest (Student Health and Well-being, Student Life and Residency, Student Records, Psychological Support)
  • Coordinate student accommodation issues with the Director of Facilities and the Flat Search Assistant
  • Ensure that students have access to student support services during opening hours in Vienna
  • Provide emergency support to students in Vienna
  • Supervise the front-desk work of the Student Center in Vienna
  • Liaise with relevant Budapest-based DoS units (Student Health and Well-being, Student Life and Residency, Student Records, Psychological Support) and the Dean of Students; send regular reports to the Budapest campus on work in progress
  • Liaise with the Vienna Campus Director and provide updates on student support services/student experience
  • Edit and proofread texts in English (and German if applicable)
  • Communicate with the relevant Austrian authorities
  • Manage office supplies

Qualifications:

  • College/university degree
  • Excellent English and German
  • Full computer literacy, confident use and good working knowledge of Office programs is required, as well as some experience with databases, knowledge of presentation software such as Prezi
  • Precision, attention to detail, priority-setting, multi-tasking
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Friendly, attentive and pro-active, customer-oriented attitude
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment and/or university is an advantage
  • Customer service experience is an advantage
