The Dean of Students Office at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a part-time (20 hours/week) Student Well-Being Assistant position. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will provide students with information required to satisfy mandatory administrative requirements that are set by the Austrian authorities and adhere to CEU's rules and regulations, focusing on health insurance, well-being, and student family support. The Student Well-Being Assistant will provide high quality service to all enrolled students, in close cooperation with other CEU service units and external partners.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting students in the arrival and leaving procedures (orientation, registration, gaining insured status).
  • Keeping in contact with the National Health Insurance Fund, Insurers, various Authorities.
  • Maintaining up-to-date student files in the University database, archiving documents.
  • Management of common email account and common office calendar.
  • Drafting, editing, proofreading texts in English & German.
  • Day-to-day administrative assistance to students during office hours and via email/phone communication.
  • Fostering and continuously monitoring the health insurance status of all enrolled students.
  • Assisting students with children regarding insurance and financial benefits, being the main contact for students with children, drafting an annual update on the relevant Student Child Support policy.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and web content editing, regularly updating unit’s website.
  • Completing tasks on an ad-hoc basis.


  • College/university degree,
  • Fluency in English & German,
  • Full computer literacy, confident use, and good working knowledge of Office programs is required, as well as some experience with databases,
  • Precision, attention to detail, priority-setting, multitasking, good organizational and interpersonal skills,
  • Creative and problem-solving personality, ability to work independently,
  • Friendly, attentive, and pro-active, customer-oriented attitude,
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive/confidential information,
  • Intercultural and interpersonal sensitivity.

All enrolled students (and in some cases their dependents) who are completing their studies in Austria.

We offer a competitive gross annual salary of 17.000 EUR, commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment.
