Sustainable CEU Produces Workshops for Visegrad Fund Project, Invites CEU Parents and Children to Participate
Sustainable CEU represents Central European University's continual quest to make progress in becoming a model of sustainability in higher education. As part of the Visegrad Supported Creative Recycling Eco Educational Project, the Sustainable CEU Team organizes interactive educational workshops for children.
This Friday, March 28, Sustainable CEU invites CEU employees and their children to participate in an afternoon of creative recycling in the Nador 15 courtyard (in case of bad weather, Nador 11 TIGY room) beginning at 3 p.m. Sustainable CEU team members will discuss recycling, upcycling, and environmentally conscious living. The event will be conducted in English but volunteers who speak Hungarian, Romanian, Croatian, and Slovak will be on hand.
Friday's event is part of Sustainable CEU's participation in Creative Recycling Eco-Educational Program, or “CREEP,” a project that brings together four environmental organizations in Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. With support from the Visegrad Fund, each country's group is producing nine educational workshops to engage elementary school students in environmental issues. Ultimately, all 36 workshops/lessons will be printed in a book that will be available online or in print on recycled material to serve as a reference for educators. The CEU group has already created and conducted seven workshops with local schools, including Hild Jozsef Elementary School, just across the street from CEU.
