The Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations has launched the EDUWORKS project that was awarded recently to CEU by the European Commission. Associate Professor Martin Kahanec of the Department of Public Policy co-leads the project as a member of its supervisory board. EDUWORKS is an FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network project that aims to generate a clearer understanding of the mechanisms underlying matching between individuals, education and the labor market. It brings together researchers from several academic disciplines: labor economics and policy, sociology of occupations, human resources management, and lifelong learning. The consortium, which received €3.6 million from the Commission for the project, is coordinated by the University of Amsterdam (involving the Amsterdam Business School and Amsterdam Institute of Advanced Labour Studies) and includes five additional full-partner institutions: Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), the University of Salamanca (Spain), Corvinno Technology Transfer Center (Hungary), the University of Siegen (Germany), and CEU. Organizations from industries with relevant practical expertise, such as the Central European Labour Studies Institute, ECORYS, Ericsson, and Randstad, have also committed to EDUWORKS as associate partners. For more information and to learn about open research positions, see the Calls for Proposals section of the CEU Planet or see http://www.eduworks-network.eu/pages/home.
