Liszka Named Owner's Representative of Campus Redevelopment Project

June 4, 2013

Following consultations with the Board of Trustees, in accordance with international practice, and considering that CEU is preparing for a new stage of the project, the administration has decided to separate the management of the campus redevelopment from the management of campus services and facilities.

Following an extensive international search, Gyorgy Liszka has been appointed the new manager of CEU’s campus redevelopment project and head of the Campus Redevelopment Office (CREO), effective immediately. Responsible for managing the project on behalf of CEU, Liszka is designated the “Owner's Representative.” He will report to President and Rector John Shattuck and the Campus Committee of the Board of Trustees through Chief Operating Officer Liviu Matei. Although not a CEU employee, Liszka will work on campus full time. He was hired through a leading Hungarian engineering and technical solutions company (subsidiary of a major international company), which will augment his work as needed for him to fulfill his responsibilities. Located in Nador 15, Room 204, he can be reached at ext. 2329 or by email at creo@ceu.hu.

CREO staff includes Zofia Pazitna, Pal Baross, and Leda Barta, who have already done considerable work for the campus redevelopment.

With the appointment of the Owner's Representative, there will be no change in the project planning or project calendar.

Stuart Durrant, who previously coordinated both the campus redevelopment project and the management of campus services and facilities, will continue as Campus Director, in charge solely of campus services and facilities. He will have no responsibilities regarding the redevelopment project, which have now been fully transferred to Liszka.

Regarding the current status of the redevelopment, CEU expects to receive the building permits very soon. The permits will be based on a generic master plan submitted to the authorities. The following step will be the detailed design, which will take several months and will require intensive community consultations.
