The "Science for the Environment 2013" conference, organized by Aarhus University and the Partnership for European Environmental Research (PEER), aims to provide input to the European Commission regarding future research needs in the EC’s research and innovation program, Horizon 2020, which will run from 2014 through 2020. The call for abstracts covers three major themes: climate action (mitigation and adaptation); resource efficiency (natural resources, ecosystems, raw materials); and green economy (eco-innovation). The conference aims to bring together the scientific community in a transparent and evidence-based process to inform and inspire the European research agenda. The conference will include facilitated workshops on various topics, where future research needs will be discussed in an open process. PEER will take the collected advice of the conference and communicate the views of the research community to the EC in November 2013. The deadline for abstracts is May 1 and the conference will be held October 3-4 in Aarhus, Denmark. For more information, see http://dce-conference.au.dk.
