CEU Senate approved the following modifications to some of the University policies at its March 20 meeting. The modifications entered into force on May 27. All policies can be accessed online through CEU Document Repository at http://documents.ceu.edu, after logging in using Novell ID and password.
Student Rights, Rules, and Academic Regulations
The approved modifications affect section 5 “Leave of absence” and aim to address a minor discrepancy between the CEU Doctoral Regulations and CEU Student Rights, Rules, and Academic Regulations with respect to the duration of different types of leave of absence. To resolve this, the distinction between ‘personal’ and ‘voluntary’ leave of absence has been eliminated. The maximum duration of the leave of absence will remain two years, irrespective of whether the student’s reasons are personal or voluntary.
Admissions Policy and Procedures
A new section 4.7. “Enrollment in a degree program at another higher education institution” has been added to the policy. It stipulates that CEU masters’ students are required to inform their departments/schools that they are enrolled in other degree programs at other higher education institutions when that information becomes available. This can be during the application process or after they are enrolled at CEU. The department/school will have the right to modify the financial aid students receive based on that information. Failure to communicate enrollment in another degree program will result in revocation of the CEU financial aid provided to the student. It should be noted that the Doctoral Regulations explicitly prohibit the enrollment of CEU doctoral students in another degree program at another higher education institution during their studies at CEU.
Habilitation Regulations
Appendix 4 “Fees and Honoraria” has been added to the policy.
