Classrooms, meeting rooms, computer labs
Access to classrooms, meeting rooms and computer labs is permitted under strict health protection measures.
Wearing a mask in the classroom during the classes to be agreed with the faculty and it is recommended. Maintain at least a 1.5-meter distance from others (do not pull seats closer to each other). Ventilation is critical: open windows and/or doors regularly (at least for 5 minutes every hour). To minimize transmission, avoid sharing pens and other objects.
We strongly advise against using computer labs. Where there is no other option, access is allowed. Workstations are placed at least 1.5 meters apart from each other. Everyone must wear a mask at all times when using the labs (even if you are the only person in the room at that time). You must wash your hands before and after using the computers. Open windows and/or doors regularly (at least for 5 minutes every hour). Keep your workstation tidy, with all areas left completely empty when you have finished using the space so that surfaces can be cleaned properly. Clean the devices that you have personally used with the provided sanitizer.
Use videoconferencing or teleconferencing where possible for work-related meetings and gatherings.
Where videoconferencing or teleconferencing is not possible, hold meetings in bigger spaces with windows that open, ensure that all attendees continue to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters and wear face coverings at all times. Open windows and/or doors regularly (at least for 5 minutes every hour). To minimize transmission during meetings, avoid sharing pens and other objects.
Rooms can be used only if they are reserved in the booking system.
Departments will create their own Lab schedules for their PhD students. The objective of this scheduled access is to ensure that no lab has more people than permitted at any one time.
PhD students may use the PhD Labs in line with the guidance below given to employees in shared offices, and with the agreed-upon measures in place at all times.
Home office is strongly recommended where feasible.
In shared offices, wear a mask whenever possible. Use your own pen and office supplies. Workstations should be placed 2 meters apart where feasible. Work should be scheduled in a way that requires the least number of people to be present in an office at any one time.
All offices: do not use other employees’ phones, desks, offices, office supplies, or any other work tool/equipment. Open windows and/or doors regularly (at least for 5 minutes every hour). Keep your workstation tidy, with all areas left as empty as possible so that surfaces can be cleaned properly. If you have the means, please also clean the devices that you have personally used. Bring your own disinfecting wipes.
Offices are cleaned at least once per day.
On September 7, the Library Reading Halls will open to CEU faculty, students, visiting faculty/researchers, alumni, and affiliates. Permitting access to the Reading Halls for Library External Members will be considered after we can ensure a safe reopening to the CEU community. Library External Memberships that expired during the closure have been extended until December 31, 2020. Applications for new External Members remain suspended as the Library opens gradually with reduced seating and services. We will continue to review policies and protocols.
Strict adherence to health safety protocols must be maintained for the Library to welcome library users and remain open. Those who do not abide by the protocols will be asked to leave and will lose their membership. We require all library users and library staff to be careful and be good library citizens.
Books can be returned at the touchless self-return kiosk outside the entrance to the CEU Library, Nador 15, 2nd Floor and 6th floor, and Open Society Archives (OSA, 23 Arany Janos ut, M-F, 7am – 7 pm). Returned books will continue to be placed in quarantine.
Books can be requested online through the Library Catalog in advance for pick up at the Information Desk for those not needing to come into the Reading Halls. If the book is available, and there is no suitable electronic option, the requestor will receive an email confirmation to pick up their book(s).
Photocopiers, scanners, and a limited number of computers are available.
Co-labs and computer labs are closed until further notice.
Full details and updates are posted on the Library website.
ILab, Baby Lab and Somby Lab
Open, with limited operations guided by Labs’ own protocols. Please contact directly.
Please bring with you and use your own plates and utensils, along with washing-up materials (these will not be provided, to avoid common usage). Used and unwashed plates and utensils left in kitchens will be disposed of. We recommend you wear gloves when using the kitchen. A maximum of two persons are allowed in the kitchen at any time. Eating together or sitting next to each other should be avoided. We also advise you spend the shortest possible time in the kitchen, i.e. no more than 15 minutes.
Conferences, co-organized events, and open-to-public events are not allowed on site, unless approved by the Rector or the Provost. These events are recommended to be held online.
Trainings and courses organized by external partners should be held exclusively in N15 or Okt 6/7 October Hall. The number of participants in each event space should be determined in advance to make sure that the event complies with COVID-19 regulations. The number of participants cannot exceed the total capacity of each room/space as shown in the CEU booking system (the booking system maintains the COVID-19 capacity of each room).
All participants must keep at least 1.5 meters distance and wear a mask when using common areas and rooms.
Catering set-ups should be approved by the Event and Space Management Unit to ensure that all safety regulations are met. Organizers are responsible for keeping participants informed about the preventative measures in effect on CEU premises and are advised to be prepared for online setup, should regulations change.
All external courses must have a registration list of participants, entry will be denied to persons who are not registered.
Catering services at N15 are available with limited operations and following strict health protocols. Take-away service is strongly recommended. If this is not feasible, keep at least 1.5 meters distance when standing in line and avoid eating in groups. We advise that you spend the shortest possible time in the catering areas.
We advise you to use the stairs if possible. Those elevators that are too small to allow for 1.5 meters distance are for single-use only. Wear a mask, use your elbow to push the buttons, or wear gloves.
The gym is closed until further notice.
The garage is closed until further notice to take precautions with the ventilation system, as recommended by the authorities.
