Funding:
Open Society Institute Budapest Foundation
Research Area:
For this project, CMDS is conducting a pilot project that uses network analysis to map ownership and transparency trends in the Hungarian media market. Specifically, this project will use network analysis techniques to map the links between ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs) of the country’s top media companies in order to assess market relationships and patterns of ownership consolidation since the country's media market was first privatized in the 1997. The primary goal is to explore the utility of network analysis as a methodology for assessing ownership structures, transparency issues and market concentration trends.
