In the context of this project, there was a transfer between the involved writers, poets and artists from Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Romania, and the East German states. The creative artists reported on their experience of the times of dictatorship as well as of the influence of the political turn on their artistic activity. Regular meetings took place twice a year, alternating, in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Italy. Writers and poets presented lectures from their writings, and the artists presented their works. The results were a literary anthology (Present Tensions: European writers on overcoming dictatorships, edited by K. Kaiserova and G. Röhrborn, CEU Press), several exhibitions and OVERcoming DICTatorships: Contemporary East and West European Visual Inquiries, a publication of studies in contemporary art by Jutta Vinzent, Kerber Verlag)
