Students with dual citizenship, and if one of the citizenships is acquired from a European Union member country, are subject to special legal obligations regarding health insurance.
After one year of legal permanent residence, EU citizens are required to get enrolled in the Hungarian state health care unless they are covered in their EU country's state health care system.
Address cards have an important role in the case of EU citizens:
If you register with your EU passport at CEU, and thus obtain a registration card and address card from the Hungarian authorities, you are obliged to get enrolled in the Hungarian state health care after one year of permanent residence. The start date of the enrollment is calculated from the date of the registration of the address in Hungary +1 day.
