Residence Documents

The residence document section provides guidance about residence requirements and application processes in Hungary for all CEU students. The information outlined below refers to students who joined CEU until 2019/20. Information for new students of 2020/21 will become available at a later point in time.

According to Hungarian law, international students must fulfill all requirements for residency in Hungary: failure to do so will result in the termination of their enrollment.

Students holding multiple passports are advised to choose the easiest way to settle their residence status in Hungary: European Union citizens receive their legal documents rather easily, involving minimal efforts.

Regular office hours:

  • Monday: 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 12:00 noon - 6:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

By public transport: bus 32 to ‘Szegedi ut’ stop - departing from Ors Vezer tere (along Metro Line 2) or from Arpad Hid (along Metro Line 3).

Another option to reach the customer service is to take bus 20 E, 30 or 30 A, departing from Keleti Palyaudvar – along Metro lines 2 and 4. In all cases one should get off at the ‘Szegedi ut’ stop.
