The School of Public Policy (SPP) has announced the clients for its 2014-16 Passion Projects. The Passion Project is a central component of SPP's multi-disciplinary MPA program.
MESPOM, a European Commission-supported Erasmus Mundus Masters program in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management operated by CEU, three other leading European universities and two North American universities, turns 10 years old this year. Aleh Cherp, professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy and MESPOM Consortium coordinator recalls how MESPOM started out 10 years ago as one of the first Erasmus Mundus (EM) Masters programs.
The President of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Timofti presented CEU alumnus Sergiu Botezatu (ECON ’94) with the Meritul Civic medal in recognition of his work with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on November 27, 2014. Botezatu has served as a Senior Project Management Specialist for USAID for nearly 14 years, and is also a supporter of the CEU Alumni Campaign.
Emilia Jamroziak (MA'97) has been promoted to the rank of Professor of Medieval Religious History at Leeds University. She graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan and Central European University in Budapest and received her PhD from the University of Leeds in 2001. 38 countries and 18 languages were represented at this year’s International Cultural Festival held on January 24. Attendees enjoyed performances by 35 students dressed in 19 different national costumes and were served 126 traditional dishes on 40 tables under 15 flags hanging from the ceiling at the CEU Residence Center.
The Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations (DSPS) has launched its updated website. The site now has several new features, including a searchable course database connected to CEU’s course hub, a dynamic list of the profiles of faculty members associated with the School, and a new set of sub-pages for the tracks and specializations of the doctoral program.
A meditation class is available every Wednesday from 5.30 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. so that members of the CEU community can familiarize themselves with simple, yet effective stress relief exercises. Participants will learn to access and cultivate their natural capacity to actively engage in caring for themselves and find greater balance, ease, and peace of mind. Classes are taught by Branko Kovacevic, meditation instructor, and coordinated by the Psychological Counseling Center and the Student Life Office.

Soft demolition works in the Nador 13 and Nador 15 buildings have commenced. Since Jan. 19, further demolition works may result in increased noise and vibration. Vehicle traffic on Nador Street will also increase. As the Nador 13 and 15 buildings are now construction sites, pedestrian traffic is directed to the other side of the street. Pedestrian traffic along the temporary construction fence is extremely dangerous and forbidden. Please pay increased attention when crossing the street.
In addition to existing PhD Labs, a new location opened on the 4th floor of the Oktober 6 utca 7 building at the end of December 2014.
