Central European University (CEU) hosted 35 university presidents and administrators from 27 institutions in countries from Nigeria to Iraq, Italy to Kyrgyzstan, in Budapest April 21-23 for the annual meeting of the American Association of International Colleges and Universities (AAICU). AAICU upholds the highest standards in American higher education, such as English-language instruction, a non-profit business model, liberal arts-inspired curricula, and American regional accreditation.
CEU hosted over 40 newly accepted students on campus from five countries at the annual Welcome Afternoon on April 14. The Student Recruitment Office welcomed participants to the CEU community and helped newcomers find answers to their questions before enrolling at CEU. For the first time, the event was live streamed in order to accommodate students from outside Hungary, and over 160 accepted students from 50 countries joined in online.

CEU launched a new website for its Intellectual Themes Initiative (ITI) at www.ceu.edu/iti on April 18. The Initiative, launched in fall 2015, aims to promote exploring and developing new activities that encourage cross-disciplinary teaching and research, prompt new forms of civic engagement, enhance the academic profile of CEU and contribute to shaping its future institutional direction.
CEU’s Computer and Statistics Center offers free computer courses to members of the CEU community. These courses are not part of the Staff trainings organized by HRO but an additional opportunity to improve skills.
