CEU Library has won two grants to fund professional development opportunities. The first finances a three-day workshop for 10 staff members to strengthen their skills and build confidence in designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating professional training. The workshop, to be held at CEU, will be conducted by Netskills, a staff-development service based at Newcastle University and supported by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC).

The Center for Policy Studies is now part of the “Changing Employment” Marie Curie Initial Training Network, a consortium of 11 European partner institutions aiming to train a cross-European and interdisciplinary network of policy-focused social scientists comprehensively skilled in understanding, analyzing, and responding to social and institutional employment changes.

The Alumni Relations and Career Services Office and the career services team at CEU Business School hosted the first Employers’ Brunch on Nov. 13. Thirty-two graduate recruiters attended, representing Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, AB InBev, Finalyse, TopTierLawyers, Siemens, and other firms. The meeting, aimed at increasing cooperation between employers and CEU's alumni relations and career services professionals, included discussions about the competitive advantage of CEU students and graduates in the international job market as well as best practices for employer branding on the CEU campus.

In the upcoming winter semester, the Department of Public Policy will offer a course in the field of higher education policy and management that is open to faculty and staff as well as students. The course, entitled “Global Perspectives in Higher Education Policy,” will be taught by Professor Marvin Lazerson. The first registration period for the course ends on December 16.

The CEU Senate approved a revised version of the Code of Ethics at its Nov. 23 meeting. The new Code of Ethics, which took effect on Dec. 1, includes changes such as simplifying the disciplinary procedure, introducing flexibility in addressing minor violations, and defining behavior that constitutes misconduct. The Code of Ethics establishes ethical standards for all CEU students, employees, and contractors, and informs disciplinary proceedings and actions.

The National Humanities Center, North Carolina, and Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin are organizing "SIAS Summer Institutes," an interdisciplinary research program for young scholars spanning two years. The program is open to post-docs who obtained their PhD in the last five years and to PhD candidates who are studying or teaching at a European or American institution of higher education.

The International Visegrad Fund announces an open call for proposals for Visegrad+ projects adhering to one or more of the following priorities and dealing with the Western Balkan region: rule of law and fundamental right, good governance, regional cooperation, and EU approximation.
