On April 25, the Medieval Studies Department hosted a “Medieval Afternoon” to kick off its new initiative, CEU Medieval Radio. On March 29-30, current and former CEU Alumni Scholarship recipients organized one of the most successful student-led philanthropic initiatives in the University's history. The "Cup of Tea for Everyone" campaign—created by organizers of the recent CEU Blanket Drive for the Homeless—set out to raise money to buy tea for homeless shelters in Budapest. Former alumni scholarship recipient Jagoda Gregulska (PhD, SOCI) led the campaign, which was co-sponsored by the Alumni Relations and Career Services Office and the Center for Arts and Culture.

The “You Can Help” initiative, founded by three CEU alumni scholarship recipients—Aldina Muslija (M.A., Legal Studies), Biljana Ilic (M.A., Nationalism Studies), and Jagoda Gregulska (Ph.D., Sociology and Social Anthropology)—collected over 70 blankets and other winter clothing items from the CEU community for distribution among Budapest’s homeless population.

Agnes M. Kovacs, a researcher in CEU’s Cognitive Development Center, received a €1.5 million “starting grant” from the European Research Council for her proposed project, "Representational Preconditions for Understanding Other Minds in the Service of Human Collaboration and Social Learning." The grant was awarded as part of the “ERC Starting Grant: Seventh Framework Ideas Programme.”
