In celebration of International Food Day in late October, volunteers from Human RightS Initiative and the Sustainable Campus Initiative collected 4 large boxes of food for the CEU Food Drive, now in its 10th year. This year, the donations will go to the Budapest chapter of Food Not Bombs, an organization that provides free vegetarian and vegan meals. Nevertheless, “Ukraine deserves a chance at a fair, democratic and prosperous future,” he says. “Without a free press, it will never have one.”

CEU Press' latest book, by Jana Vobecka, studies the unique demographic behavior of Jews in Bohemia, starting from a moment in history when industrialization in Central Europe was far away in the future and when Jews were still living legally restricted lives in ghettos. Under conditions not stipulated by conventional demographic theories, Bohemian Jews started recording marked decreases in mortality and fertility that signaled an early onset of their demographic transition.
CEU Planet is a compilation of news, features and interviews from across the University.
