The European Judicial Training Collective is a project that aims to promote judicial cooperation and foster engagement between EU member states in civil law matters. The project runs from October 2013 to October 2014. The first of three modules on family law took place in Dublin, and the third and final module on mediation will be hosted by the Irish Law Society.

CEU Business School hosted “Managing Integrity: the Bad and the Good,” a seminar that brought together experts in transparency, corruption, regulatory practices, and integrity education on March 13. CEU's Center for Integrity in Business and Government, directed by Professor Peter Hardi, is leading the way in integrity education in Central and Eastern Europe.

The updated version of the policy registry is now available at http://documents.ceu.hu and can also be accessed from the main CEU website by clicking on the University Policies at the bottom of the page using Novell ID and password. The new registry follows the same specification as the old one, but has some additional capabilities in order to make the search of the documents easier.

Professor of Economics John S. Earle was awarded the Abram Bergson Prize by the Association for Comparative Economic Studies for the Best Paper during 2011 and 2012. He co-authored the paper “Did Post-Communist Privatization Increase Mortality?” with Scott Gehlbach, professor of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin. The prize acknowledges the best article published in the journal Comparative Economic Studies in the previous two years.

CEU alumnus Darko Angelov (IRES '04) was awarded the Hungarian Commander’s Cross Order of Merit for his contribution to the deepening of Macedonian-Hungarian cooperation. Angelov is completing his service as Macedonian Ambassador to Hungary this spring, and will begin his term as the Macedonian Ambassador to Greece this fall.

Janos Kertesz, professor at CEU's Center for Network Science (CNS), was awarded the Szechenyi Prize by Hungarian President Janos Ader on March 15. The award honors those who have made an outstanding contribution to academic life. Kertesz, who is also a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, received the Szechenyi Prize for his internationally recognized achievements in statistical physics and its interdisciplinary applications, especially in the field of network science.

The Human RightS Initiative (HRSI) invites applications for a one–day intensive workshop on Contemporary Slavery and Human Trafficking in Human Rights Perspective. The one-day course is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of human trafficking and contemporary slavery. The issue has been subject to increased attention, funding and policy interventions, yet general misconceptions persist. The course will identify and address these misconceptions, and will further provide an overview of the global context, the nature of the problem, the current debates, and emerging trends.
