Peter Bokody, a graduate of both the Master's and PhD programs in the Department of Medieval Studies, edited the newly published catalogue “Image and Christianity: Visual Media in the Middle Ages.” The bilingual volume (in English and Hungarian) catalogs two recent exhibitions from the Benedictine Archabbey of Pannonhalma – one of the oldest historical monuments in Hungary. The aim of the exhibitions is to show to the viewer the various forms and media of image-worship in medieval Christianity.

For those who are interested in history and the historical events of the 20th century and want to improve their debating skills, CEU's Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS) has opened a call for applications to participate in the simulation game “Renegotiating Peace.” The call is open to students, recent graduates, and young professionals from all disciplines who wish to better understand the relevance of World War I for today’s politics. The simulation was prepared by the German organization Planpolitik and co-organized with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

The Human RightS Initiative (HRSI) announces the opening of the application period for a one-day intensive workshop on Human Rights Advocacy at CEU on Saturday, Oct. 11, 9am-5pm.The Human Rights advocacy workshop is an interactive one-day seminar aiming at offering participants knowledge on what advocacy is, and how to plan, implement and evaluate an advocacy campaign. The workshop will require an active contribution from all participants and will combine discussions and small group work.

"Data Stories" is CEU's largest research visualization exhibition, bringing together individual and collaborative work among students and faculty on visualizations of qualitative and quantitative data relevant for the social sciences. The first edition of the exhibition displayed 19 poster-style visualizations by 17 young and senior researchers at CEU. The call for visualizations for the 2014 Second Edition of "Data Stories" Research Visualization Exhibition opened Sept. 15 and ends Nov. 7.
