"One of the great things about Cultural Heritage Studies," explains first-year student Camilo Montoya, "is that its scope is so large you get to look at everything." That is exactly what Montoya is doing as he explores how best to rebuild the Aleppo Souk, Al-Madina. Although his background is in art history, Montoya has always been interested in contemporary issues.

Jeremy Braverman joined CEU as Media and Visual Education Specialist on February 15. In this newly created position Braverman’s primary role is be to support media production, including documentary filmmaking, across CEU’s programs through the establishment of a new, donor-funded Media Lab in the new library, and to collaborate with members of the CEU community to create innovative educational opportunities in media production to support teaching and research.

In this study Averil Cameron, chair of the Oxford Centre of Byzantine Research, focuses on the prose dialogues in twelfth century Greek and on what they can tell us about the society and culture of an era when western Europe was itself developing a new culture of schools, universities, and scholars. Julia Szalai, senior research fellow at CEU's Center for Policy Studies and visiting professor in the Department of Political Science and National Studies Program, has been awarded a research fellowship at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York for academic year 2016-17. Szalai will conduct research in the Advanced Research Collaborative (ARC) of the Graduate Center's 'Inequalities' research priority.

CEU’s Summer University (SUN) offer courses that cater for the various needs of academic and professional development in the social sciences and humanities across a wide spectrum of disciplines.
