Feminist Engaging the State in Central and Eastern Europe by Andrea Krizsan, research fellow at the Center for Policy Studies and adjunct faculty at the School of Public Policy at CEU, and Conny Roggeband, assistant professor at the University of Amsterdam, has been published by Routledge.

Gabor Pete of the Alfred Renyi Institute of Mathematics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, who's also a visiting professor at CEU's Department of Mathematics and Its Applications, won a European research Council consolidator grant to carry out new research on noise sensitivity. The phenomenon that Pete will study originates in computer science, with applications from computational complexity theory to the design of computer chips.

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, initiated in 1991 by Rutgers University Center for Women’s Global Leadership Institute in Rutgers, New Jersey, USA, is an international annual event set up in the 16 days between November 25, the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women, and December 10, Human Rights Day. Every year, this campaign rallies over 3,700 organizations in approximately 164 countries, including activists, government leaders, students, academia and the private sector to demand an end to gender-based violence.

European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) invites researchers to submit proposals for research networks aiming for the exchange of knowledge. The support covers the costs of networking activities such as meetings (e.g. travel, subsistence), conferences, workshops, short-term scientific exchanges, training schools, publications and dissemination activities. COST does not fund the research itself. The Action should involve partners from at least seven COST member countries.

For almost a decade the Department of Economics and Business at CEU has participated in a joint fellowship program with Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute, Prague (CERGE-EI). So far, thirty-five CEU advanced doctoral students and recent graduates have benefitted from the opportunities provided by this cooperation, teaching at Eotvos Lorand University (ELTE) Corvinus University and Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

The Cultural Heritage Studies Program at CEU has been awarded in recognition of the high standard of the activities offered at the European Heritage Days (EHD). The award, symbolized by a puppet, was awarded by the community of EHD organizers at a two-day meeting of local event organizers in Budapest in November.
