Four research laboratories working on infant cognition and development gathered at CEU to present their work at the "Little Scientists' Afternoon" on Feb. 24. Budapest seems to be a center for infant research, with four world-class laboratories, the presenters said.

Three Nobel laureates and a winner of the Brain Prize, John O’Keefe, Edvard Moser, May-Britt Moser, and Gyorgy Buzsaki, respectively, spoke at CEU August 31 at a neuroscience symposium hosted by the Department of Cognitive Science. All four scientists expressed their support for CEU’s efforts to remain in Budapest as a free institution dedicated to academic and research excellence.

CEU Professor Gergely Csibra of the Cognitive Development Center and the Department of Cognitive Science has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in the U.S. in recognition of his distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

The sixth Budapest CEU Conference on Cognitive Development (BCCCD), held Jan. 7-9, attracted more than 305 participants, including representatives of cognitive science, young researchers and doctoral students from Europe, North America and Japan. Organized annually by the Cognitive Development Center at CEU, the conference presented recent research findings on early social cognition, memory, reasoning, word learning and moral cognition. Speakers included Alan M. Leslie of Rutgers University and Nathan J. Emery of Queen Mary University of London.
