CEU alumna Monika Baar (HIST’ 95) won a consolidator grant worth €2 million for her innovative research project Rethinking Disability: The Global Impact of the International Year of Disabled Persons (1981) in Historical Perspective.
Baar, who won the European Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities offered by CEU in 2014, will use the funding to study the global impact of the UN Year of Disabled Persons in 1981.

University of Groningen Senior Lecturer Monika Baar is the winner of the third annual European Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The award, initiated by CEU Provost and Pro-Rector Liviu Matei and overseen by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) aims to promote excellence in teaching across the European Higher Education Area. Baar, a 1995 graduate of CEU (MA in History), earned her doctorate at the University of Oxford.
