CEU alumna and doctoral student Simona Torotcoi has joined Roma Access Programs to teach Introduction to Public Policy II, during the 2016 Winter Term.

Artist Selma Selman was a wild child and thinks she probably would've been voted “least likely to graduate from high school,” but her teachers pushed her to succeed. In 2014, she received the Zvono Award for Best Young Artist in Bosnia Herzegovina and she is now studying for her master's at Syracuse University in New York.

Ildiko Torok wants to see more decision makers with an education in public policy, who could facilitate coherent and effective policymaking to empower Roma women in Hungary.
Torok, a recent graduate of CEU's Roma Graduate Preparation Program (RGPP), sees assisting the empowerment of Roma women in Hungary as the main mission in her career.
“Roma women are disadvantaged in multiple ways, not only as members of a minority, not only because their prospects of lowincome and few chances at employment, but also in their roles as women,” Torok said.

Former and current Roma Access Programs (RAP) students Semiha Harapi (RGPP '15), Sebijan Fejzula (RGPP '13), and Eva Csiki (RAP '09), and RAP Director Matyas Szabo met Beth Fernandez, program officer at Sigrid Rausing Trust (SRT). From 2014, RAP have developed a SRT-CEU pilot internship grant program, specially designed to facilitate the access to real-world work experience in order to enhance RAP students’ applications for further study or meaningful employment. The initiative is in its second year, and the results are extremely promising.
