As part of its 25th Anniversary, CEU is celebrating its many alumni doing great things all around the world. Therefore, CEU’s Alumni Relations and Career Services Office (ARCS) has created the Alumni Impact Award to salute those exceptional alumni whose actions bolster the University’s overall mission and enhance its international prestige.

CEU alumnus Adam Bodnar (LEGS ’01) was elected Ombudsman by a vote of the Polish Parliament in July 2015. After the Senate confirmed his appointment, Bodnar took office on September 9. According to Polska Newsweek, he will serve as “the vanguard of change, warn politicians against potential risks to individual rights, and criticize when they take actions that threaten them.”

CEU alumnus and journalist Sebastian Garthoff (HIST ’08) recently published a German-language guidebook to the Hungarian capital. Entitled “Budapest - Zeit fur das Beste" (Time for the Best), the book is a collaboration between Garthoff and Hungarian photographer Daniel Kaldori.
Focusing on Budapest’s iconic sites, the book was described by Garthoff as a lighter counterpoint to the duo’s journalistic work regarding Hungarian society in the Orban era.

Stanislava Kuzmova (MEDS'03) received the 2014 Kuczynski Book Award in Poland for “Preaching Saint Stanislaus: Medieval Sermons on St. Stanislaus of Cracow, His Image and Cult .” The book was published in the framework of the OTKA Saints Project based at the Department of Medieval Studies at CEU. The Stefan Krzysztof Kuczynski Award honors publications related to historical sources and auxiliary historical sciences in Poland. The prize is awarded by the editorial board of scholarly journal Studia Zrodloznawcze.

CEU alumnus Rob Swainston (POLS 2000) is currently an artist in residence at Bard College. Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, he studied art and political science at Hampshire College, and subsequently lived and worked in Central Europe, pursuing postgraduate studies in political science at CEU. His solo exhibition, entitled “Carry On” is on display in the Riverside Galleries at Garrison Art Center (New York, U.S.) through Feb. 15. This exhibition marks the culmination of a year of printmaking at Garrison Art Center.

David Nagy (LEGS ’13), who studied International Business Law, represents the new generation of Hungarian politicians in Slovakia. In addition to working as a legal associate, he has also become a member of the city council of his hometown, Nove Zamky, a town of 40,000 inhabitants.

CEU Business School alumnus Ashwin Kutty (IMM, '04), president and CEO at WeUsThem Inc., has been named as Business Person of the Year by The Halifax Chamber of Commerce in Nova Scotia, Canada.
The Business Person of the Year Award recognizes business people who demonstrate the best Halifax has to offer. Rewarding leaders and innovators who are prepared to take chances and stretch the limits of success.
