CEU alumnus Maad Sharaf (SPP ’18) uploaded a video on his Facebook page on September 30, 2018. In the video, he asked people in a busy pedestrian area in central Budapest what they knew about Yemen. The #Ask_me_about_Yemen video project aims to raise public awareness of Yemen in general, and the humanitarian crisis caused by the war broke out in 2015, in particular. In a week, the video has generated over 13,000 views.

Joanna Kostka, alumna of CEU's Department of Public Policy and currently Visiting Researcher at the Center for Policy Studies, has recently been selected for a lecturer position in Social Work at Lancaster University's Sociology Department in the United Kingdom. Kostka received her PhD (summa cum laude) from CEU in 2015, defending a thesis on 'Going beyond Political Commitments: Explaining Diverging Outputs in the Use of European Structural Funds for Roma Inclusion Strategies in Spain and Slovakia'.

His motivation to go to graduate school was the recognition that he needed to upgrade his knowledge and skills on public policy analysis. He chose CEU mainly because it "offered a high-ranking MA program on public policy at the global level, and because it was something of a hub for think tanks, policy analysts, and researchers.”
