Support a local charity organization and try delicious food at the same time at Szimpla Farmer’s Market on Sunday, March 5. At the ‘Common Cauldron’ Community Cooking event the Dean of Students Office Team will prepare and serve lunch to visitors for a donation that will be given to ‘RÉS’ Social and Cultural Foundation to purchase bean bags for the Temporary Home for Families. Lunch will be served from 12 noon. Venue: Szimpla Farmer’s Market/Szimplakerti Háztáji Piac

On January 22, a group of CEU students participated in a community cooking event, volunteering their time to help local people in need. Organized by the Student Leadership and Service Office (SLSO), the cooking began at 3 p.m. at the Oltalom Charity Association center and students prepared and served 150 hot meals. The volunteers were also given a brief history of the shelter and learned about what it does to help homeless people.

This year’s DeStress Week, organized by Student Leadership and Service Office in collaboration with the Alumni Office, the Center for Arts and Culture, the Sustainability Committee and the CEU Sports Center was held between November 7-11. The programs of the week were designed to help relax, unwind and have fun. Students, faculty and staff were welcome at the Stress-free Zone in the Octagon to activities such as stress management workshops, meditation and yoga classes, where they could acquire useful de-stressing skills.

Six hundred students from more than 70 countries received master’s and doctoral degrees from Central European University at the 23rd annual graduation ceremony June 21. Also at the event, the CEU Open Society Prize, awarded for substantial contributions to the creation of an open society, was presented to European Commissioner of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva.
