The Senate approved the following changes in academic departments and programs, effective January 22, 2015.
The changes in degree programs will only enter into force following their approval by the New York State Education Department. This will be announced separately. Until then, the programs will continue operating and recruiting students under the existing names.
The Senate approved the name change of the department of International Relations and European Studies to department of International Relations.

CEU mourns the loss of alumnus Tamas Kubik, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly this week. Kubik graduated in June 2014 with a master’s degree in Nationalism Studies.

The Development Office published the winter issue of The Octagon, CEU’s bi-annual newsletter for donors and friends of the University, on November 26. The Octagon includes a message from President Shattuck, news from the university, articles on events with distinguished guests, alumni profiles, and updates on recent grants and gifts. In order to coordinate the 15,000 classes and events that take place at CEU each year, the University has now fully implemented a space booking management system called EventPro and integrated it with the UIS class booking system. All class and event info on the Nador campus is now accessible to all on smartphone or tablet.

A revised signature rights chart has been approved by the Senate and is now in force. The signature chart, which is Annex 1 to the Organizational and Operational Regulations (OOR) of the Közép-európai Egyetem (KEE) has been revised to reflect the recent administrative restructuring, specifically:
- the signature rights of the COO for human resource related documents are taken over by the Vice-President for Administration (the position of the COO is however retained in the founding documents as well as in the signature chart);

A large-scale overall WiFi system upgrade has been implemented by the IT Department to increase coverage, speed and security. This upgrade included replacing the WiFi controller, and installing 80 additional access points around campus. Improved WiFi is now available in the newly populated CEU buildings, the Wallenberg guesthouse and all floors of the Kerepesi Dormitory. In addition to increasing the coverage and speed of the WiFi network, these updates enhance network security, and result in better overall WiFi performance.

The Student Life Office calls for recipes for the first CEU International Cookbook. If you want to be a culinary ambassador of your country, send a recipe to getactive@ceu.hu by January 13, including the name of the dish, the ingredients, guidelines to how to prepare the dish, and useful tips. The cookbook will be published on the Student Life Online blog.

On December 3, 2014 the United Nations and the world celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. CEU will join the celebration with a number of events organized by the Dean of Students Office and the Student Life Office aimed at raising awareness at CEU for these issues.
The United Nations (UN) has announced Sustainable Development: The Promise of Technology as the 2014 theme for International Day of People with Disability.

The 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign started today with an installation in the Octagon to commemorate victims of domestic violence as well as an infotable on male and cis privileges.
