INTELLECTUAL THEMES INITIATIVE Call for Proposals Academic Year 2018/19
CEU academic staff members are invited to submit project proposals for new teaching, research, or civic engagement activities under the Intellectual Themes Initiative (ITI). At the suggestion of the Strategic Development Committee, ITI also serves as a privileged vehicle for developing and offering University-wide Courses (UWC). Starting with this call, we are introducing a separate application form for University-wide Courses.

Applications now open for five-day workshop at Central European University on "Roma Health and Policy: Equality and Participation" in March, co-organized by the Open Society Foundations’ Public Health Program and CEU’s Global Policy Academy.

CEU Summer University offers high-level, research- and policy-oriented interdisciplinary courses in June-July 2018 in Budapest. Applications are invited from graduate students, postdocs, junior faculty, early-stage researchers, and practitioners for the short, intensive courses taught by internationally renowned scholars and policy experts (including CEU professors).
Financial aid is available for most courses.
First application deadline: February 14, 2018.

This initiative builds on the experience and success of the Erasmus programmes in the EU and in higher education. The Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility supports the international exchange of students, academics, ideas and good practice between cooperating institutions.
The program provides funding for study abroad periods, visiting lecturer exchanges and professional training abroad for university staff between Erasmus+ Programme countries (in Europe), and Partner countries (outside of Europe).

The CEU Award for Outstanding Research was founded to recognize outstanding research by CEU faculty that has significant international impact.
Nominations should be sent to provost@ceu.edu in electronic format by Thursday, March 29, 2018.

The CEU Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes CEU faculty members for promoting high standards of teaching, linked with the mission and institutional ambitions of CEU. The Award not only underscores CEU's long-standing commitment to excellence in teaching, but also provides an opportunity for students and alumni to acknowledge teaching at CEU that has had a special impact on their academic work and lives.
The Award will be presented at the CEU Opening Ceremony in September 2018.

CEU’s Open Learning Initiative (OLIve) is seeking individuals or groups to develop and teach new courses for students who participate in the OLIve Weekend Program for refugees and asylum seekers. OLIve invites ideas from CEU faculty, staff and students along with local community members for courses for the new term, which runs from February 10 through June 30, over 15 teaching Saturdays. Ideally, the courses should be short, from 4 to 6 sessions.

Within the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Program Key Action 1 – Mobility of Individuals, CEU academic and administrative employees may seek Erasmus+ funding for participation in a training mobility abroad. The staff training must be carried out at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) that is a holder of an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education or any public or private organization active in the labor market or in the fields of education, training and youth.

European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) invites researchers to submit proposals for research networks aiming for the exchange of knowledge. The support covers the costs of networking activities such as meetings (e.g. travel, subsistence), conferences, workshops, short-term scientific exchanges, training schools, publications and dissemination activities. COST does not fund the research itself. The Action should involve partners from at least seven COST member countries.
