As it prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary, CEU has launched the University-wide Intellectual Themes Initiative. This is a major new institutional endeavor at CEU, meant to promote exploring and developing new activities that encourage cross-disciplinary teaching and research, prompt new forms of civic engagement, enhance the academic profile of CEU and contribute to shaping its future institutional direction. The first call for proposals, together with a full description of the initiative, was circulated to all members of the CEU community in November 2015.

CEU’s Communications Office and Student Recruitment Office, in cooperation with the Center for Arts and Culture and CEU Weekly, will be hosting a photo contest each season this academic year, with great prizes for the best entries.

CEU’s Summer University (SUN) has been offering opportunities for short, intensive postgraduate study for 20 years. The general application deadline for interdisciplinary courses in the summer of 2016 is February 14, 2016.

CEU’s Department of History, in cooperation with the European University Institute and the University of Vienna, will host the 10th Graduate Conference in European History (GRACEH) in Budapest April 21-23, 2016. The theme of the conference is Resilience, Restoration, Revival: The Endurance of Structures from Early Modern Times to the Present.

Within the European Commission’s Erasmus+ Program Key Action 1 – Mobility of Individuals, CEU faculty and administrative employees may seek Erasmus+ funding for participation in a training mobility abroad. The staff training must be carried out at a Higher Education Institution (HEI) that is a holder of an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education or any public or private organisation active in the labour market or in the fields of education, training and youth.

The Center for Academic Writing (CAW) invites submissions for the Second Language Poetry Contest in seven languages, English, Hungarian, German, Italian, French, Spanish and Chinese.
Members of the CEU community are welcome to submit any poems written in a language other than their mother tongue. CAW Poetry Contest runs through January 25, 2016.

The Academic Cooperation and Research Support Office (ACRO) at CEU is inviting departments to organize Undergraduate Summer Conferences (USC) in August, 2016. These 2 to 5 day long events would give a number of selected undergraduate students the opportunity to spend a few days in Budapest, interact with CEU faculty and graduate students through participation in the conference sessions and other related events (dinners, tours, etc.), and get acquainted with CEU facilities (dormitory, library, etc.).

Papers are welcome to QUESTI 2015, a multidisciplinary conference based on virtual presence. The conference is aimed especially, but not exclusively, at students and young researchers. The goal is to motivate starting researchers to get their first feedbacks from senior researchers and receive valuable experiences.
Interested authors are invited to prepare a short presentation (paper) on Global Scientific problems to deliver state-of-the-art analysis, inspiring visions and innovative research methods arising from interdisciplinary and actual research.
