Interested in the European Union, the Visegrad countries or Moldova? Have an opinion about EU enlargement and neighborhood policy? Care to discuss your views with outstanding students from Central and Eastern Europe? Want to strengthen your debating skills? The Center for EU Enlargement Studies (CENS) opens a call for participation to join a unique, international, online student debate on the European future of Moldova and the Visegrad countries, which brings together 25 highly motivated students from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland and Slovakia.

The Human RightS Initiative (HRSI) invites applications for a one–day intensive workshop on Contemporary Slavery and Human Trafficking in Human Rights Perspective. The one-day course is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of human trafficking and contemporary slavery. The issue has been subject to increased attention, funding and policy interventions, yet general misconceptions persist. The course will identify and address these misconceptions, and will further provide an overview of the global context, the nature of the problem, the current debates, and emerging trends.

CEU’s Institute for Advanced Study and the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology call for submissions for the workshop “Race In/Outside Post-WWII Europe: On the Politics of Governing and Knowledge Production,” to be held on Tuesday, June 10. Send an abstract (max 300 words) with your name and affiliation by April 23 to Giovanni Picker of CEU IAS at pickerg@ceu.hu. Results will be communicated by April 29. Papers and/or presentation outlines should be submitted by May 31.

The Asia Research Initiative and the Department of International Relations and European Studies will host the conference “Global Economy, Local Issues? Context, Politics and Policies in the Global South.” The event will be held at CEU June 12-14. The deadline for submitting abstracts is March 15. Possible thematic areas to be covered during the conference include:

One Year Replacement Teaching Position in Gender and Literature/Cultural Studies
The successful candidate will teach a required MA theory course, and two to three elective courses covering gender and literature or other aspects of popular culture. The term of appointment is from Sept. 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.

The Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is a two-year international masters course funded by the European Commission, jointly offered by CEU, Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (Spain), the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam (Netherlands), and the University of York (UK). Mundus MAPP hosts outstanding third-country scholars who are interested in contributing to the study program and strengthening academic partnerships with the consortium institutions.

CEU Summer University invites innovative, research-based and/or policy-oriented course proposals from faculty members at CEU or elsewhere for summer 2015. SUN courses are usually taught by a team of five to seven faculty members representing a wide range of geographical, disciplinary, and institutional backgrounds. The target audience is master’s and PhD students, junior faculty and researchers, and professionals. The program aims to help strengthen CEU’s research capacity and academic network-building efforts.

Charles University in Prague and International Hellenic University in Thessaloniki, supported by the LSEE, invite applications for the Second Summer Seminar on Nationalism, Religion and Violence. The English-language seminar will take place from June 23 to July 4 at the Charles University in Prague. The first Summer Seminar on Nationalism, Religion and Violence was organized in Thessaloniki in 2013, with great success (for more information on last year’s program, visit the website).
