Bela Greskovits, professor in the Departments of Political Science and International Relations and European Studies at CEU, was awarded the Bibo Istvan Prize by the Hungarian Political Science Association. The prize honors extraordinary achievements in the field of Hungarian political science.

Shorob.com, a Bengalese youth platform founded by Nuruddin Ahmed (MPA ’16), won the Social Media for Empowerment Award 2014 in the “Communication, Advocacy & Development Activism” category. The award is an initiative of the Digital Empowerment Foundation, a New Delhi-based organization that aims “to find sustainable Information Communication Technology (ICT) solutions…to address [the] digital divide in underserved and unreached regions and communities.”

University of Groningen Senior Lecturer Monika Baar is the winner of the third annual European Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Social Sciences and Humanities. The award, initiated by CEU Provost and Pro-Rector Liviu Matei and overseen by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) aims to promote excellence in teaching across the European Higher Education Area. Baar, a 1995 graduate of CEU (MA in History), earned her doctorate at the University of Oxford.

Andras Stipsicz, professor in the Department of Mathematics and its Applications, was awarded the Hungarian Academy of Sciences’ Academy Prize for outstanding scientific achievements. Stipsicz was recognized for his work on low dimensional topology and symplectic geometry. Twelve scholars received the Academy Prize this year, of which Stipsicz was the only mathematician. The prizes were awarded by Academy President Jozsef Palinkas on May 5.
