Roman Shlyakhtin (MA ’07), doctoral student in the Department of Medieval Studies at CEU, was awarded a Junior Fellowship in Byzantine Studies at the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library & Collection for academic year 2015/16. Shlyakhtin is going to finish his dissertation project, “From Huns into Persians: The Image of the Seljuk Turks of Asia Minor among the Byzantine Literati of the Eleventh and Twelfth Centuries,” during his year in Washington, D.C.

School of Public Policy (SPP) students have a track record of fostering deep engagement with local communities. Four students have shown strong interest and commitment in working with Roma communities: Marek Balaz (MPA ’16), Katalin Nemeth (MPA ’16), Ciprian-Valentin Nodis (MPA ’15), and Erjon Qirollari (MPA ’15). Each of these students took the time to share his or her story with SPP.

Hungarian news portal index.hu interviewed Anna Velikok, student in the Department of Political Science at CEU, about her initiative to place a photo of the recently assassinated Russian democracy activist Boris Nemtsov in front of the House of Terror in Budapest.
