On Saturday, December 3 the CEU Sports Center organized the "Santa Claus" Indoor Soccer Championship. 8 teams participated in the tournament. All participants received a small gift from Santa Claus. CEU students visited a local animal shelter in Budapest December 2, volunteering their time to support animal welfare. They were introduced to the animals and given a brief history of the shelter and how it helps the animals. They had the chance to spend some quality time with the dogs, showing them some much-needed love and taking them for a long walk in the fresh air. Given the limited supply of food for the animals, the students were happy to bring some supplies.

Savannah Carr-Wilson and Sandeep, MESPOM master’s students in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy, are currently writing a book, entitled the Fossil Fuel Curse. They plan to conduct research in India and Canada this summer and turn their findings into a unique non-fiction book that will bring global attention to the impact fossil fuel extraction has on communities in India and Canada, and what will happen to these communities when the world makes a transition to renewable energy.

Gian Carlo Miranda and Janeca Naboya, master’s students in the Department of Legal Studies at CEU, presented their paper “Tug-of-War: Politicizing Humanitarian Aid in Times of Natural Disasters” at the Southeast Asian Studies Symposium at the Mathematical Institute, Oxford, on April 14-16.

"One of the great things about Cultural Heritage Studies," explains first-year student Camilo Montoya, "is that its scope is so large you get to look at everything." That is exactly what Montoya is doing as he explores how best to rebuild the Aleppo Souk, Al-Madina. Although his background is in art history, Montoya has always been interested in contemporary issues.
