Kristina Simonyan, Balazs Kelemen, Katherine Yakimetz, Xian Ken Chen, students from the MS in Finance program, represented CEU at the Rotman European Trading Competition, hosted by LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome, August 23-25.
The competition aims to give students the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to actual markets and allows teams from schools across Europe to participate in a simulated market.

I unlocked the screen of my mobile phone and saw the subject of the e-mail received: “Results of your CEU Alumni Scholarship application.” I knew that whatever it was stated in that e-mail could change the studying-abroad-journey which I was about the start.

Central European University hosted its first ever Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition on June 18.
Hosted by the Dean of Students' Office, the competition featured presentations by 10 CEU doctoral students covering a wide range of research topics, from the cognitive processes of babies through bank bailouts to ethical farming. Each student had 180 seconds to give a compelling presentation on their thesis and its significance.

Ten students of the Department of Legal Studies’ Human Rights and Comparative Constitutional Law programs participated in the Vienna Human Rights Model United Nations (VHRM MUN) on April 11. MUN is a simulated session of the UN Human Rights Council, organized by the University of Vienna and the Academic Council on the United Nations System. MUN took place at the Vienna International Centre, the campus and building complex hosting the United Nations Office at Vienna.

For the third time running, CEU is participating in Danube Regatta again this year. All CEU students now have an opportunity to volunteer to be a member of the CEU Crew and represent the University on May 5.

CEU's University Doctoral Committee has announced the winners of the Award for Advanced Doctoral Students, rewarding outstanding student research, and the Academic Achievement Award for First-Year Doctoral Students, rewarding outstanding performance in coursework and comprehensive exams. Piruza Hayrapetyan, currently a PhD candidate at CEU's Department of Medieval Studies after receiving her MA at the department in 2015, received the best conference paper award from the Society of Armenian Studies. Hayrapetyan’s paper addressed the literary context of Ganjs, Armenian hymns dedicated to church feasts and saints that were recited and sung in the Armenian Divine Office. Hayrapetyan is also an exchange fellow at the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Vienna.
