The Demjan Group, owned by one of Hungary’s most prominent businessman Sandor Demjan, has donated € 1 million to establish a migration fund to support improving conditions for refugee children currently in Hungary or on the borders of the country. The fund will be used to buy food, clothing, finance domestic travel, healthcare and to produce information materials and assist civilians and authorities who are working to resolve the situation. CEU Business School alumna Borbala Czako (IMC'90) has been appointed to chair the fund.

Associate Professor Peter Szilagyi, director of CEU Business School’s MS in Finance program, held a talk at Budapest Economic Forum, Portfolio’s, a Hungarian finance and economics portal, annual economic summit. Szilagyi spoke about the economic implications of the current refugee crisis. Read Szilagyi's presentation here. CEU Business School has joined CEU's efforts in helping refugees arriving from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and other nations in conflict. The School’s students collected money to help refugees at the Hungarian-Serbian border with tents, torches, warm blankets, sleeping bags and warming foil. Donations are still flowing in from colleagues and the School will continue to buy more much needed items. Thanks to all CEU Business School students, faculty and staff, and special thanks to Katalyst EMBA student Szilvia Varro for coordinating the School’s efforrts.
