Hungarian architecture and design monthly Octogon interviewed Sheila O'Donnell and John Tuomey, architects of CEU’s redevelopment project. The project involves the renovation and new construction of approximately 35,000 square meters at the downtown campus. It will preserve the architectural character and historical importance of the university’s buildings in the heart of Budapest, and will add new public spaces and expand facilities for teaching and learning.

Budapest, July 8, 2015 – Central European University's new campus design has been granted “Very Good” status by BREEAM officials, making it the second higher education institution in continental Europe and the first in Central and Eastern Europe to receive this distinction. BREEAM principles – the world's leading design and assessment method for sustainable buildings – were used in the design in order to support CEU’s commitment to sustainability. Press are invited for the certificate handover ceremony and a tour of the construction site on Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m.

The roof of the Oktober 6 Street, No 7 building will be under construction starting as of next week. Initiated by the building owner, this construction will improve the quality of the CEU offices and teaching/learning facilities located on the 4th floor and the overall conditions of the premises.
Timeline:
Area preparation will start on the 29th of June.
Actual work will commence in July and will last until the middle of November.
