Al Hakam Shaar of the Shattuck Center on Conflict Negotiation and Recovery (CCNR) and former CEU Professor Austin Choi-Fitzpatrick (now a professor at the University of San Diego) wrote an opinion piece in Al Jazeera on drone usage in Aleppo. They highlight citizens using drones to document damage and refute the Assad regime's version of events during the civil war.

Aviation engineers Abdulrahman and Amr Shayah from Aleppo are calling for parachutes to be used to distribute aid rather than bombs to the city. "These engineers believe there's a safe way to deliver food and medical aid to the people of Aleppo, who have been suffering under a siege for over 100 days," said Shattuck Center Fellow AlHakam Shaar.

As CEU President and Rector John Shattuck prepares to step down after seven years of outstanding service, the University is preserving his legacy by renaming the Center of Conflict, Negotiation and Recovery in honor of his visionary leadership of CEU. Canadian Michael Ignatieff was elected as CEU's fifth president and rector and will begin his term later this summer.

The Aleppo Project has recently introduced another valuable study for anyone who is interested in finding out about what has happened in and to Aleppo in recent years. The Aleppo Conflict Timeline begins in 2012 when the armed conflict in Syria reached Aleppo.
